How To Use Antibacterial Essential Oils

Once upon a time, I was a legal drug dealer and knew nothing about antibacterial essential oils.

What? Legal drug dealer? Who?

Yes, in a past life I was a pharmaceutical sales representative.

I’ll take it one step further and reveal my primary product line was antibiotics.

I knew all there was to know about them.

I had to, as it was paramount in persuading doctors to prescribe my drug over a competitor’s drug.

After all, the number one rule in selling is to know your competition’s weakness and exploit it.

My competitors certainly had weaknesses, but I quickly found out doctors did as well.

What was their weakness?

Giving out antibiotics like candy!

For every sniffle or cough patients encountered, doctors oblige them by handing out  Zpacks (Zithromax) and Augmentin.

I, like every other pharma rep wanted to get a piece of that pie.

AntiChaotics

Imagine this…

You’re driving into a small town with only two traffic lights to visit a doctor.

You’ve already done your pre-call planning and know antibiotics like Augmentin are failing miserably from antibiotic resistance.

So…your message today, delivered in two minutes or less will be antibiotic resistant bacteria.

After delivering your message, you position the antibiotic you represent as the solution to overcome this resistance due to its bacteriostatic nature.

(Oops, sorry for getting too scientific on ya)

To your surprise, the two minutes originally planned for turns into 10 minutes and the “doc” you’re calling on shares valuable info with with you.antibacterial essential oils

He tells you bacteria are showing resistance to all pharmaceutical antibiotics and then he drops a bomb.

He said he received a letter from the FDA telling him only to prescribe antibiotics if he’s sure it’s bacterial in nature not viral.

It seems the overuse of antibiotics within the medical and livestock communities have created a crisis.

Resistant strains of bacteria are emerging.

Well, you don’t have to imagine anymore…this actually happened to me in 2003!

Yikes!

Scary, huh?

Oils Of Essentiality

According to the CDC, ”At least 2 million people become infected with bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics and at least 23,000 people die each year as a direct result of these infections.”

Bacteria like mutants from X-men, are evolving at a phenomenal rate causing traditional antibiotics to fail.

Why are they failing?

Bacteria are becoming “immune” to antibiotics because they are being used too frequently by doctors without ever establishing if an infection is bacterial or viral.

In addition, the livestock industry has over used these drugs in effort to curtail sickness in animals and to make them fatter faster.

Because of the frivolous use of antibiotics, essential oils just might be the savior to thwart antibiotic resistance.

Essentially (pun intended), essential oils are plant extracts.

These oils are covertly being used in personal care, cleaning, and pest control products right now.

Essential oils boast antibacterial, anti fungal, and antimicrobial properties.

I was turned on to them several years ago and want to share the best antibacterial essential oils and how to use them with you.

Using Essential Oils

Before using essential oils, make sure they’re therapeutic grade.

Essential Oils can be used in the following ways:

  • Topically – I usually place a few drops in my hand then massage hands together and place directly on my skin. I’ve never had a problem doing this but it is recommended to use a carrier oil such as coconut or grape seed oil for dilution before coming into contact with the skin.
  • Aromatically – Inhale the essential oil directly from the bottle or you can use a diffuser to expel the oil in a room.
  • Internally – Add the oil to a glass of water or another beverage and take directly. There has been a lot of controversy surrounding this method so use precaution when taking internally.

Now that we know how to use them…what are the best antibacterial essential oils?

Best Antibacterial Essential Oils

Essential oils can be used for a number of things including relaxation, headaches, and my fav- fighting germs!

Here are a few antibacterial essential oil super stars:

  • Thieves Blend – Thieves is a combination of several oils including clove, rosemary and eucalyptus. The name is derived from four thieves who went from house to house robbing people during the bubonic plaque. They wanted to limit the chances of succumbing to the plague so they use a combination of oils to increase their immunity. I’ve used Thieves as mouthwash and toothpaste. My favorite way to use it is adding a couple of drops to purified water and placing it in a spray bottle. When everyone is getting the “sniffles”, I’ll spray in the air to keep bacteria at bay.
  • Lavender – I’ve been using Lavender as a headache remedy by adding a few drops to my hand and rubbing it into my temples. I had no idea lavender also had antibacterial properties but it does.
  • Lemongrass – This is my house cleaner! I mx it in a spray bottle along with a little vinegar and its awesome for cleaning counters, bathroom fixtures and mopping floors. Its not only good for killing germs, it makes the house smell good!

Bacteria are showing increased resistance to pharmaceutical drugs and conventional chemicals.

Scientists are searching for new ways to inhibit the growth of bacteria, yeast, and mold.

Essential oils have been studied and confirmed to contain substances which can inhibit the growth of bacteria without risk of resistance.

Antibacterial essential oils are economical and a safe way to combat germs to protect you and your family.

Try them…you might just like them!

Now it’s your turn….

Have you tried essential oils? What are your favorites and how do you us them?
